Conversion of a charity office to a community cafe

Situated in a conservation area and in close proximity to a number of listed structures the project was to convert the building to work as a Community Cafe that was both functional yet sympathetic to the building’s history and surroundings.
The old sports pavilion was in a poor state of repair and many elements of the building needed to be replaced. The brief was to create a building that would work primarily as a cafe while remaining flexible enough to be able to provide other facilities to the local community. A new internal layout along with a new exterior raised deck provide the main space for the cafe. New bi-fold doors open up the interior to the deck and the open green space beyond.
Ensuring that the improved building is accessible for all was a key part of the brief.
